Eindhoven , 3 October 2011. With barely a month to go, good news for the organizers of Startup Weekend Eindhoven: thanks to a number of sponsors, the target budget has almost been reached. High Tech Campus Eindhoven, EIT and the Municipality of Eindhoven give their reasons for supporting this creative weekend: to boost creativity and innovation, and to stimulate entrepreneurship and cross-fertilization with the creative industries.
High Tech Campus Eindhoven: Interchange of the smartest kilometre in the Netherlands
High Tech Campus Eindhoven reacted enthusiastically to the plan to organize another Startup Weekend. It gives the organization and participants the opportunity to establish contacts with the community of the smartest square kilometre in the Netherlands. And the Campus the opportunity to give a special boost to creativity and innovativeness in the Netherlands. High Tech Campus Eindhoven provides facilities, mentors, jury members, potential investors and participants for the event.
EIT ICT Labs: stimulating way for technical talent to get down to business
The Startup Weekend is also a logical choice for EIT ICT Labs. The weekend revolves around stimulating entrepreneurship, something that is highly valued by EIT ICT Labs. The 54 hours are a stimulating way to step over – perceived – barriers and to create a new mindset on entrepreneurship for students and researchers, with potentially a directly applicable result.
The Municipality of Eindhoven: international cross-fertilization with the creative industries
The connection with the creative industries in Eindhoven is of particular interest and the Startup Weekend therefore takes place during the final weekend of the Dutch Design Week.
Alderman Brink (of the Municipality of Eindhoven) pointed out that the cross-fertilization between these creative industries and other sectors is part of the council’s economic policy. Entrepreneurship, knowledge, innovation, technology and creativity benefit the future economy, both nationally and internationally. Financial contributions come from the ECCE Innovation project.
